Ebay vs Amazon-Which is more beneficial to affiliate marketers
eBay as well as Amazon, both are well know names when we think of online shopping. Both are the leading companies that sell their products online and are very widely used by people all around the world. Both of the companies are excellent portal for shopping online but as everything has its pros and cons, the same applies to both the sites. If you are comparing both the sites and thinking that with whom you should expand your sales, you need to compare both the sites in different aspect before coming to decision.
Many of the eBay sellers are wondering that is it really worth if they start selling their products on Amazon. Some of the sellers feel that they are being bounded by too many rules and regulations.
Things entrepreneur should know while his partnership with Amazon
The main advantage that an entrepreneur gets when he is starting his partnership with Amazon is that the affiliate program of Amazon is the one which is trusted by the users and thus they are actively purchased by them. The registration process that is offered by Amazon is also very easy and simple. There areΒ a ton of valuable tools that help make it easier and more profitable for entrepreneurs so that they are able to build their affiliate links like several number of widgets, user convenient search forms, or easy selection procedure for products. The tools that are able to operate with Amazon database are given special attention by making use of some special scripts.
A well and ready e-shop platform is provided to the online entrepreneur by the Affiliate program. This is the reason why it can become a very good and effective marketing solution if a proper design is given to it. The strategy implemented is very simple, more the products sold by entrepreneur- the better. The main disadvantage of the entrepreneur program offered by Amazon is that the rate offered by the company is very low, near to 4-6%. In addition to that the entrepreneur receives the commission only when a sale for his product is generated within a day.
Things entrepreneur should know while his partnership with eBay
The main benefit that an entrepreneur receives while working with eBay is that he is offered a large variety of products. Unlike the Affiliation program offered by Amazon, an entrepreneur working with eBay gets commission even if the time taken by generation of sale is 7 days after the click of the buyer. I addition to that the entrepreneur also gets the commission if any new user registers in 30 days after the click is made by him. So eBay pays for both the things, for any product sold as well as if any new user registers on the site. So this proves to be a plus point for entrepreneurs. Same like Amazon, affiliation program offered by eBay has a very high conversion rate.
Most of the online entrepreneurs have the same question in their mind that whose partnership program do they need to choose- Amazon or eBay? There is a lot of difference when we consider selling of expensive products. The main work of an entrepreneur is to provide products, which are more relevant to the search engine query. And then let us leave everything on the customers which site they want to choose.
I hope readers find this eBay vs Amazon review useful.

Hi Suresh….
Frankly speaking I am in blogging since Aug 2011 but I have never tried Adsense/Amazon on my blog but recently I have put Adsense code on my blog and I am getting good response.
My next project would be starting a blog that will target some Amazon products.
Hi Sandeep,
Thanks for stopping by my site. It is nice to hear that Adsense is performing well on your site. I wish you great success for your project. π
You are failing to mention that starting mid June 2013, Ebay will be paying much less to affiliates for clicks from users who already have accounts. This was announced by EPN at the beginning of April 2013. On average this means a 50% payout cut for EPN publishers. Amazon is now becoming the better alternative for payouts in most situations. –
Nice article Vurity Suresh. The article was quite enlightening especially were you said “Unlike the Affiliation program offered by Amazon, an entrepreneur working with eBay gets commission even if the time taken by generation of sale is 7 days after the click of the buyer. In addition to that the entrepreneur also gets the commission if any new user registers in 30 days after the click is made by him. So eBay pays for both the things, for any product sold as well as if any new user registers on the site. So this proves to be a plus point for entrepreneurs”. But, from my own opinion I prefer Amazon to ebay because of their reputation, trustworthiness and their site is easier to navigate through easily & find what you’re looking for quickly.
Don’t you think so Suresh?
Hi Victor,
Thank you for stopping by my article. I’m glad you like it. Yes I agree with your perspective. When it comes to reputation and usability, Amazon is far behind eBay but commission wise Ebay is good. Thanks for the comment mate.
Nice write up bro, I am going to try Amazon! π
Thanks bro. I wish you great success with Amazon. π

Thanks again!
Hi Vivek,
Nice to see you on my site mate. I’m glad you like this article. Thanks for the comment. π
Openly saying I donβt trust Amazon. I think Amazon really needs to get their money situation in line first. I sell on e-bay when I can. And at same time if you are selling on EBAY! Based from experience, there is no such thing as seller protection program there.Pay pal is lesser of the two problems.
Hi Suresh,
Thanks for such wonderful post with comparison of two top class ecommerce portals.
Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn money and these two portals have helped people a lot to earn, especially amazon.
However there are some issues always with any portal but Amazon sorts out things pretty quickly.
